Food Standards Agency Investigates Meat Supplier for Breaching Hygiene Regulations…

A meat supplier is under investigation by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for allegedly breaching hygiene regulations. They supply schools, care homes and some of Britain’s most popular food outlets such as Wetherspoon’s, Jamie’s Italian, Tiger Tiger, Marston’s pubs and Butlins.

The FSA has begun an investigation at all the suppliers sites and other locations where their products are stored. According to the FSA, the supplier in question were unable to demonstrate compliance with food hygiene rules, so they have stopped any product from leaving their sites until assurances can be provided, that they are complying with legislation and producing safe food. Any affected product has also been removed from the supply chain.

In a statement, the supplier said: ‘The product recall was a precautionary measure because of mislabelling.

‘We have no reason to believe that the product was unsafe to eat.’

Orders are labelled up with all the information needed for storage and then stored in dedicated chillers ready for dispatch by our own team in our temperature-controlled vehicles.
